Few seconds are all you need to find out how to travel from one point to another anywhere in Madrid using the Public Transport System. You can find the path using the Google Transit or Here applications.
Public transportation:
There are several ways to get to the conference venue with public transportation.
By Bus
There are buses (e.g bus numbers 83, 133, 162) that take 15 minutes to get to the center of Madrid (Moncloa, Plaza España, Gran Vía, Callao).
- The bus "133" starts from the city center (Gran Via – Callao) through Plaza de España, Calle Princesa, Plaza de Moncloa , and the A-6 highway. The bus stop is “Facultad de Veterinaria”, on the highway. Once off the bus, walk forward (do NOT cross the highway with the bridge) but walk a bit further (50 meters aprox.) towards some wooden-made stairs below the hill on your right that will take you up to UNED buildings. (see figure 1)

Figure 1: the red circle is the “Facultad de Veterinaria” stop for bus 133. The blue rectangle (calle Juan del Rosal is the venue). The list on the left are the name of the stops.
If you look in google maps , from Plaza del Callao to Facultad de Educacion UNED, by bus:
- The bus "83" or “162” starts from the Plaza de Moncloa and goes along the A-6 highway, as the “133”. The bus stop is “Facultad de Veterinaria”. Once off the bus, walk forward (do NOT cross the highway with the bridge) but walk a bit further (50 meters aprox.) towards some wooden-made stairs below the hill that will take you up to UNED buildings.
- The bus “F” starts from Plaza de Cuatro Caminos. The bus stop is “Paraninfo-Derecho”. UNED is 10 minutes walking away.
- The bus “G” starts from Plaza de Moncloa. The bus stop is “Paraninfo-Derecho”. UNED is 10 minutes walking away.
- The bus “U” starts near the Student residences in the UNED southern campus, passes through the metro station of Ciudad Universitaria and gets to UNED northern campus. The bus stop “UNED-Juan del Rosal”. You have to walk forward 2 minutes to get to UNED buildings.
You can download the "EMT Madrid" application from the App Store, Play Store, Nokia store, Windows Phone Apps, Blackberry world.
By intercity buses:
If you stay along the A-6 highway, you can get the following green buses (provided that they are not using the highspeed lane in the highway, so they do not stop) that go to Moncloa bus station from the outskirts: 601, 621, 622, 623, 624, 625, 627, 628, 629, 651, 651A, 652, 653, 654 and 655. You have to stop in “Avenida Puerta de Hierro Nº 3, next to the Facultad de Veterinaria” and then, cross the bridge and take the wooden stairs up to the hill. You can use these buses to come from Moncloa, but they are more expensive than the city ones (“83”, “133” or “162”).
By taxi
A taxi from the city center to the venue would be around 10/15 euros depending on the traffic.
By Metro
From the metro station Ciudad Universitaria (Line 6) the U bus drives to the conference buildings in 5 minutes (U, stop at UNED-Juan del Rosal). It is also possible to go walking for 20 minutes (See map below). From this metro line there is a connection to access the airport metro station (just four metro stations to reach the airport line 8, and the whole trip takes around 40 minutes).
The 10 journey metrobus ticket (valid for metro and bus)
With the current rates, 10-ride tickets can be bought by 12.20 euros (i.e. each ride costs 1.22 euros). The 10 journey ticket also gives you peace of mind as it saves having to buy separate tickets. The Metrobús ticket has no expiration date and can be used by your travel companions as well. Simply insert it into the slot on the turnstile machine and wait for it to pop out before retrieving it, and you will then be able to pass through. Then pass the ticket back to the next person who must repeat the process. Each time the ticket is passed through the machine, it counts as one journey.
To buy the Metrobús ticket you can go to ticket offices at all Madrid metro stations, or you can get it from the automatic ticket machines situated in the entrance of all metro stations. Some stations have their ticket machines away from the entrance.
